What is Information Technology?

It is a hybrid branch of engineering dealing with Computer Science and Communication Engineering. A information technology graduate might be involved in computer hardware/software design, software development, dealing with the latest advancements in communication engineering.

About Department

The department of Information Technology came into existence from the very inception of the college in the year 2008 with an annual intake of 60 students.

Right from its inception in the year 2008, the Department has steadily grown in all spheres in terms of:

  1. Student strength, physical Infrastructure, number of labs - subject wise, as per the rapid upgradations introduced by AICTE in the recent times and progressive changes in syllabi of JNTU Kakinada.
  2. Central and Department Library, number of systems in labs, requisite software, organization and establishment of in-house maintenance wing and its training.
  3. Brilliant faculty strengthened through qualification improvement programs, human resources in the form of trained supporting staff, all round quality development programs and operating systems for improving upon the functional effectiveness in the department.

Vision

To produce IT professionals who can develop globally competitive and socially useful information technology enabled solutions and products that offer cost effective solutions, for organizations, in particular and society in general, through their innovative ideas, and to create a knowledge pool through research in this field.

Mission

  1. To build centers of excellence, impart high quality technical education in Information Technology and instill standards of ethics and professionalism.
  2. To train the students effectively apply the concepts to solve the real world problems, thus amplifying their potential for lifelong high quality careers in the ever changing global environment.

OUR FUTURE PLANS

  1. To start a course in M.Tech. Information Technology and take up consultancy work.
  2. To make critical and specific contributions and realize the objectives of the department and in turn of the Institution, as an Institution of eminence and repute at the University level.

PROGRAMME EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEOs)

PROGRAMME EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEOs) The Program Educational Objectives of the B. Tech in Information Technology program are given below and are numbered from PEO1 to PEO5.
  1. PEO1: To provide the graduates with concrete base in Information Technology along with the fundamentals of Mathematics, Science, Computing and engineering with a view to imparting them high quality technical skills like designing, modeling, analyzing and problem-solving with global competence.
  2. PEO2: To organize and persuade graduates with recent technological developments related to core subjects like Advanced Computer Networks, Web Technologies, Information Security, Advanced Data Structures, Algorithmic Analysis, Mobile Computing and future technological advances in the above mentioned domains so as to contribute effectively for synthesizing novel products and solutions for the real life problems by pursuing advanced study or research to cater to the needs of stakeholders.
  3. PEO3:To train the graduates for a higher degree of employability in both public and private sector industries at national and international level by initiating them into professional competence, ethical administrative acumen and ability to handle critical situations.
  4. PEO4:To prepare the graduates for successful careers in Information Technology by providing training to excel in competitive examinations for higher education and to improve their technical and intellectual capabilities for lifelong learning.
  5. PEO5: To train the graduates to have basic interpersonal skills to work as part of teams on multidisciplinary projects under diverse professional environments with a sense of social responsibility to become good technocrats.

PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES (POs)

  6. An ability to identify, formulate, and solve information technology problems.
  7. An understanding of professional and ethical responsibility.
  8. An ability to communicate effectively.
  9. The broad education necessary to understand the impact of Computer Science & IT related solutions in a global, economic, environmental, and societal context.
  10. An ability to engage in life-long learning.
  11. An ability to obtain knowledge of contemporary issues.
  12. An ability to use the techniques, skills, and modern Computer Science & IT tools such as cloud computing and information security necessary for engineering practice.
  13. An ability to recognize the global issues like green initiatives and alternate energy sources and relate the Computer Science IT related solutions to meet such requirements.
  14. An ability to take technology to villages and to recognize the rural requirements.
  15. An ability to become an entrepreneur or employee in the field of Computer Science & Information technology related industry or be able to get qualified in competitive examinations.
